Ghana’s U20 male national team, the Black Satellites, secured their inaugural victory at the 2023 African Games by defeating The Gambia on Tuesday night. Playing at the Accra Sports Stadium, they triumphed 3-1 with goals in each half.

This win, following a draw against Congo, positions Ghana atop Group A with four points, poised for a semifinal berth. Musibau Aziz’s early strike gave Ghana the lead, further bolstered by Abdul Aziz Issah’s goal after halftime.

Despite Musibau Aziz missing a penalty, The Gambia narrowed the gap with Ebrimah Ceesay’s late goal. Nonetheless, Jerry Afriyie sealed Ghana’s victory with a stoppage-time goal.

Their next challenge awaits against Benin on Saturday.
